CET Booster Club

As a parent or guardian of a student involved in a CET production, you are automatically a member of the CET Booster Club. If you have a few minutes, you might want to read our Articles of Incorporation and our By-Laws .

But here’s a quick run-down: The Booster Club is a 501(c)3 and exists to support theatre at Community High School through fundraising and volunteer work. We have a Board of Directors that consists of two non-elected members and four officers elected by the membership.

Our Board of Directors

Our Meetings

Sponsor The CET program sponsor is hired by the Ann Arbor Public Schools and sits on the Board of Directors of the CET Booster Club. They are responsible for hiring personnel (directors, usually themselves, music directors, choreographers, technical directors, …), choosing the plays to perform, casting and casting and crew policy, and setting the tone for the program. Our current sponsor is Emily Wilson-Tobin. (Learn more about Emily.)

Producer This individual can be a theatre professional hired by the Sponsor or a volunteer appointed by the Sponsor, and sits on the Board of Directors. They handle various administrative details associated with our productions in consultation with the Sponsor and the rest of the Board.

President Our president and the remaining officers are elected annually from among parents or guardians of current CET students. Our president works with the Sponsor and the rest of the Board to set priorities and goals for the year, coordinates volunteers, and chairs meetings of the Board and of the membership.

Treasurer The treasurer keeps the books, handles payments and reimbursements, and prepares the annual budget for discussion and approval by the Board.

Secretary Our secretary creates and handles email lists for each production, and takes minutes at all meetings of the Board or membership. If you are not receiving emails when you should be, please contact them at secretary@a2cet.org .

House Manager The house manager sets up and monitors ticket sales for our shows, and works with our volunteer ushers to keep greeting and seating at performances running smoothly.

The CET Booster Club meets at least three times annually, and the Booster Club Board holds open meetings at least quarterly. Dates and agendas for future meetings will be posted here as soon as we know them, and minutes of past meetings will be posted as they are available.

Volunteer with CET

We feed the students during dress rehearsals in the run up to opening night and ask all families who are able to contribute food. Additionally, we need volunteers to help set up and serve meals and help clean up afterwards. Parents and Guardians with building skills are sometimes asked to help with the sets crew, and those with sewing skills are sometimes asked to help the costumes crew. Emails with timely requests go out periodically throughout the production weeks, but you can submit a volunteer form now telling us what you’d be interested in when the need arises.
